HOW DO I CHOOSE AN ATTORNEY?
You want an attorney that you trust and communicate well with. Your legal rights are important and you need to feel comfortable that the attorney you hire will be able to assist you and advise you. It is important that your attorney appreciate and understand your concerns and is capable of talking with you about your situation in terms you understand.
HOW MUCH DOES AN ATTORNEY COST?
Cost depends on what needs to be done for you in your particular situation. Preparation of wills, estate plans, other documents, and criminal defense matters may be handled on a flat fee. Personal injury cases are usually handled on a contingency fee basis, meaning that you don't have to pay any fees unless there is a trial or settlement award. Most cases are taken on an hourly-fee basis with a retainer collected up front from which hourly fees are deducted as they accrue. The fees involved for your specific situation will be addressed during as quickly as possible.
WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE A CASE?
You won't know unless you talk with an attorney. By sitting down with an attorney, you will be able to discuss the facts of your situation and gain an understanding of whether you have a case and if so, what is necessary to pursue your matter. You have nothing to lose in scheduling a consultation.
WHAT IF I NEED LEGAL HELP IN AN AREA OF LAW YOU DON'T PRACTICE?
When needed, our office works with attorneys who practice in all areas of law and we will gladly give you the name of a trusted professional who can address your legal needs. This collaborative approach enables us to provide the best service possible to our clients. We only collaborate with attorneys who have the same degree of reliability and integrity that we would expect if we needed to refer a family member to them. We are glad to serve our clients and neighbors by discussing with you your legal needs and making a referral to trusted professionals as appropriate.
